Two more people have been arrested concerning the death of Sonali Phogat, including the restaurant owner.
Goa Police said on Saturday that two more people have been arrested concerning the murder of actor and BJP leader Sonali Phogat.
Four arrests have been made in the case, including the owner of Curlies beach shack in Anjuna and suspected drug peddler Dattprashad Gaonkar.
In connection with the alleged murder, Phogat’s PA Sudhir Sangwan and his associate, Sukhwinder Singh, were arrested on Friday. The two people who traveled to Goa with Phogat on August 22 confessed during interrogation that they had made her drink a liquid mixed with some “obnoxious” chemical. A court appearance is scheduled for today for both accused.
Sukhwinder Singh was allegedly supplied drugs by the suspected peddler Gaonkar arrested today. According to Anjuna Police, the drug peddler who supplied drugs was detained based on the investigation.
As of now, more than 20-25 people have given statements in the case, including staff from Curlies Restaurant. Police are questioning the restaurant’s owner.

The St Anthony Hospital at Anjuna in North Goa declared Sonali Phogat, 42, dead on August 23. The Goa Police registered a murder case after a post-mortem revealed blunt force injuries on her body.
Phogat’s PA and his associate were arrested after police accessed CCTV footage showing the trio partying at a club.
According to CCTV footage, Sudhir Sangwan and his associate Sukhwinder Singh were partying with the deceased at a club when the incident occurred. According to inspector general Omvir Singh Bishnoi, one of them forced the victim to consume a substance.
Yesterday, Phogat was cremated in her hometown of Hisar. ‘We are satisfied with how the investigation into my sister’s murder has progressed. CCTV footage revealed the truth. My sister has been cremated today; we will work towards getting justice for her.” said Rinky Dhaka, his brother.
“Rinku Dhaka had previously filed a complaint alleging that Phogat was murdered by Sudhir Sangwan, her personal trainer, and Sukhwinder Singh to take over her properties and financial assets.

Meanwhile, Phogat’s last rites were conducted on Friday at Hisar in Haryana. Palghat rose to fame with her TikTok videos and ran for the Haryana elections in 2019 but lost to former Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi. The reality shows Bigg Boss featured her in 2020.
