Crime History of Umakant Yadav: The first case was registered in the year 1977, 37 cases including robbery and murder are registered
Several criminal cases have been registered against Umakant Yadav, a three-time MLA from Khuthan in Jaunpur and one-time MP from Machhlishahr. Umakant Yadav was first booked in 1977. After this 36 criminal cases were registered in Azamgarh, Lucknow and Jaunpur. Former MP Umakant Yadav, resident of Sarawan village of Didarganj police station area of Azamgarh district, is currently lodged in Jaunpur district jail. There are three warrants against him from Jaunpur. In these, one case is related to Line Bazar and two of Shahganj Kotwali including GRP constable massacre. Many serious criminal cases like cheating, robbery, murder, damage to public property have been registered against them. Umakant Yadav’s brother Ramakant Yadav has been a BJP MP. He contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections against Mulayam Singh Yadav and is currently an MLA from Phulpur Powai Vidhan Sabha in Azamgarh.

During the absconding in 2007, Umakant Yadav had gone to meet the then Chief Minister Mayawati on the call of him, then Mayawati called the then DGP Vikram Singh and arrested him.
Let us tell you that seven people, including former BSP MP Umakant Yadav from Machhlishahr, were convicted by Additional Sessions Judge III Sharad Kumar Tiwari on Saturday in the GRP constable murder case. During this, Rajkumar Yadav, the car driver of former MP Umakant Yadav, had an argument with a passenger for sitting on the bench on platform number one. On persuasion, he slapped the GRP constable. He called other soldiers and brought both the men who had quarreled to the GRP post. According to Tahrir, around 2.30 pm the rifle, During this, constable Ajay Singh was killed in indiscriminate firing. The incident, which took place in broad daylight, had created panic in the area.
